CAPE CORAL CONSCIENCE

FORMING A NEIGHBORHOOD ALLIANCE

We are committed to empowering the community and fostering meaningful change. Our ultimate goal is to reach a point where we can put any issue on the referendum, allowing the people of Cape Coral to directly influence the decisions that affect their lives. This will be done on a neighbor to neighbor basis, forming neighborhood alliances that will benefit the people. For so long our voices have been ignored by the mayor and city council, it’s time we take the power back into our own hands!

Fight

CITY COUNCIL Corruption

With referendums

Rescind City Council Stipends (Video):

The stipends given to the Mayor and City Council members without public debate should be rescinded, and voted on by the public.

Unbiased Community Representation (Video):

The City Council disbanded qualified volunteer citizen groups that provided oversight and gave Cape Coral Citizens a voice. The extra burden from disbanding the citizen groups is how City Council and the Mayor justified their stipends. Unbiased community representation and boards should be reinstated to ensure community representation.

Changing Time of Council Meeting to 6 PM (Video):

The City Council meeting time should be changed to 6PM to accommodate more public participation. Certain members of city council have already suggested changing the city meeting time to 9am, further silencing citizen input.

Protect Jaycee Park Referendum (Video):

Any changes to Jaycee Park should be approved by public referendum before implementation. Especially when those changes are funded from taxpayer’s pockets.

Fair Jaycee Park Contracts (Video):

All contracts awarded for Jaycee Park renovations should be subject to public bidding and transparency. The current Jaycee Park redevelopment contract was awarded after concluding a 24 day bidding period with a $25,000 application fee where only 1 bid was received.

Moratorium on New Well Construction (Video):

There should be a moratorium on new well drilling and construction to protect water resources. New studies show that Cape Coral homeownership costs could rise dramatically in a short time as a result of too much well drilling.

Give City Employees Raises (Video):

Cape Coral City employees and police should receive higher salaries to be competitive with other cities, improve retention and foster job satisfaction.

Filling in the Canals (Video):

Filling in canals for car wash construction should be prohibited to preserve existing waterways and keep noise levels under control.

JOIN OUR FACEBOOK GROUP

Our Facebook group is where all our members can come together and share news and ideas. When the time comes for another referendum, we will all be there to support each other and be heard! This is an effort to protect democracy at the local level. A true democracy cannot exist if those who are elected turn their backs on voters once they obtain office. This is why our group is so important!

TAKE ACTION

We recognize that real change requires a collective effort of our community, which Is why we are actively seeking volunteers who are passionate about making a difference. By working together, we can amplify our impact and effect lasting change.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR WHISTLE BLOWERS!

We believe the Mayor and City Council are doing a lot of shady things behind closed doors. We are looking for people that might know of anything the city is doing wrong. We will keep it confidential if you contact us.
